NPA-OPS 41 Update JAA/EASA EVS-HuD Ah Hoc WG #2 Meeting, Hoofddorp, 3rd November Presented by Maria Algar Ruiz (CJAA OPSDIV)
NPA-OPS 41 Update • The NPA addresses: • The operation of HUD; • Auto-land Systems; • The aerodrome operating minima; • “Lower than standard Category I operations”; • “Other than standard Category II operations”; • Category III operations by means of a HUDLS; • Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS); • This NPA is based on NPA OPS 20, which introduced stabilised approach requirements, the CDFA (Continuous Descent Final Approach) concept and a new set of aerodrome operating minima; all of these were based on work to harmonise the AWO issues with FAA. NPA-OPS 41 Update • NPA-OPS 41 + CRD were presented at OST 06-4 in September • Questions raised by NAA Italy: • Runway facilities for Other than Standard Cat II Operations • Flight simulator training and aeroplane flight training (if applicable) • Type and Command experience • Minimum RVR for a Visual Approach • Lighting facilities required for Cat II and III approaches • References to FM should be changed to AFM • Details typos notices by AEA JAAOPSDIV-MAR
NPA-OPS 41 update • NPA-OPS 41 was presented to RST 06-3 in October • The following deviations from ICAO standards were identified: • Allowing the use of RVRs less than 550 m for Category I operations (Annex 6) • Allowing the use of MDA/H as DA/H (Annex 6) • Systematically allowing Category II operations without TDZL/RCLL (Annex 14) JAAOPSDIV-MAR
NPA-OPS 41 update • It was highlighted that JAA MS will have to file differences from ICAO SARPs • At this stage and due to the need of a more “robust” Safety assessment of the new type of operations in low weather conditions, it has been decided to postpone the presentation of the NPA to JAAC for final adoption to 2007. Proposed way forward for EVS WG • Work does not finish at the end of 2006!! • Continuity of the group work must be ensured!! • New chairman has to be pointed ASAP JAAOPSDIV-MAR
