  7. Open Enrollment In order to attend another high school or if you are interested in a program that is only offered at a particular school, you must complete the “Open Enrollment” application.

  8. Open Enrollment • Open enrollment forms are available on the DUSD homepage at www.dysart.org • You must provide your own transportation to and from school if you attend another HS other than your home school. • Open enrollment applications are due on or before Friday, February 11, 2011.

  11. AIMS TEST INFORMATION • Students must meet AIMS standards in math, reading and writing to graduate. • 5 Opportunities to Meet the Standards!

INCOMING FRESHMANBENCHMARK TESTING This is the testing that you WILL complete at your school • Math • English • Honors classes will be determined by the results of this test and teacher recommendation. • You need to take your benchmark tests seriously!! Your core class placement depends on it!

  16. COURSE SELECTION • Core classes (English, Math, Science) Core classes will be assigned based on the results of your placement tests & teacher recommendation. (i.e. Honors Placement) • Electives You must choose 2 electivesand 2 alternate electives. Write in the course number and course name on your course selection sheet.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING COURSE SELECTION • Thoroughly read your Course Selection Guide (available online) • Review and discuss information with your parents/ guardians. • If you are planning to attend a university, please refer to the pages in the Course Selection Guide for advanced college preparation information. • Carefully choose your electives, indicating them from 1-4. Write in the course # and name. • Return signed Course Selection Form to your elementary teacher on or before January 24th. • Counselors will be back to do your online course registration.

  20. YourSchedule… • Counseling will make every effort to give you your elective choices in the order of preference listed using the 1-4 system. • Scheduling changes will only be made for academic reasons. • Elective choices will not be changed.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS • Study, Study, Study! • Attend school every day& on time. • Do your class assignments & homework. • Get involved with extra-curricular activities. • Community Service- volunteer to help others. • Listen to your teachers and talk with them. • Make good friends & positive choices. • Family members can be a great support. • Get extra help and tutoring with your academics when needed.
