  2. This week’s Standard: Our goal or standard for this week is to compare two decimals to the thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of the comparisons.

  3. How can we compare decimals? • By using decimal cubes. • By using base-ten blocks. • By using a T- chart. Let’s compare the numbers 0.5 and 0.50 What do these numbers look like with decimal cubes; base-ten blocks? When we compare decimals we are deciding which is greater than, less than, or equal to.

  4. Essential Question: How do we compare decimals using a T-chart?

  5. Today’s Task: We will be using the promethean board to practice using a T-chart to compare decimals. We will also spend time working with decimal cubes and base-ten blocks to compare decimals.

  11. Today’s Task: Today you will work in groups to create a skit comparing decimals. Scenario: A lady wants to buy some gold but likes it in her favorite color. Her favorite color is less than another color but it is all the same price. Help her make a wise choice. You will write down your ideas in your math notebooks. One person will record them on your graphic organizer.

  18. Today’s Task: You will be given a piece of construction paper that you will need to fold three times. You will be given a decimal number that you will write each digit on a fold of the construction paper. You will then write the expanded form of that digit underneath it on the same fold of the construction paper.
