  2. Getting Started • Keeping your teeth clean is important for both children and adults. Parents should work to encourage their children to brush and floss every day to enforce good habits. Not only is brushing and flossing important, you should use a mouthwash to help with cavity prevention and strengthens the teeth. Dentists recommend mouthwashes with fluoride just to ensure the teeth are healthy.

  3. General Tips about tooth brushing • Tooth brushing and flossing helps prevent plaque • Tooth Brushing should last from 2-3 minutes • Toothbrushes should be replaced every 2-3 months because even though you wash it, germs and bacteria builds up overtime and can cause sicknesses such as the flu. • Toothbrushes come in a variety of colors, sizes and even ones that are appealing to kids to make them want to have clean teeth

  4. Flossing • Flossing gives many benefits such as removing plaque • Floss can be coated in flavor such as mint or fruity • Floss can be very useful to get food out of your teeth • It is a good idea to floss after eating an apple or corn • If you have braces flossing is a must

Dental visits • Be sure to ask your dentist if you have any questions and call if any concerns come up • Regular dental visits are good for oral hygiene • Without proper dental care the patient has a high rate of loosing teeth in the future from decay or periodontitis disease • If you have any pains or discolorations in your teeth make sure you make a quick appointment to make sure its nothing serious

Diseases • Tooth decay can be a result of bad hygiene and it must be filled with resin restoration • Gingivitis is from poor oral hygiene • Gingivitis is a less severe form of and may evolve into periodontitis • Periodontitis is a disease that affects the support structures of teeth, the gums, ligaments, and bone. • Treatments for periodontitis include home care instruction, antibiotic, or surgery • If not treated the cavity can expand, and destroys the tooth which is an extremely painful experience.
