  5. Choose What Happens Next Choose What Happens Next is a series of videos linked together in a choose-your-own-adventure style. The first video features a girl receiving a text message from her boyfriend asking for pictures. The viewer then has to click "send it" or not send it. The choice that the viewer makes takes him or her to a video that explains the "results" of the choice. Watch the first video below.

  6. Send/Don’t Send Somebody just asked you to send them a picture. It's up to you to choose what happens next. What do you do? You loose your right to choose where a picture ends up after you have sent or posted it on the Internet. It can be forwarded and you cannot control who may see it. Don't let others decide where your pictures go. Think before you post.

  8. Stuff to Know Keep your personal information private. Only add friends you know in real life. Set your profile and blog to private. Use a nickname that doesn’t identify your location, gender, or age. Never meet in person with anyone you first met online. Contact the site administrator if someone creates a social networking page in your name. Alter your pictures and videos before you post them to remove identifying information. Profile and photo share only with people on your friends list. Don’t post your plans or whereabouts on your site. Ignore harassing or rude comments posted on your profile. Understanding YouTube & Digital Citizenship Overview http://www.google.com/edu/teachers/youtube/curric/index.html Google has devised an interactive curriculum that supports secondary teachers (students approximately ages 13-17). The covers topics like: •YouTube’s policies •How to report content on YouTube •How to protect their privacy online •How to be responsible YouTube community members •How to be responsible digital citizens It is expected that students and teachers gain useful skills and a holistic understanding about responsible digital citizenship, not only on YouTube, but in all online activity.

Reporting • Anyone you don't know who asks you for personal information, photos, or videos. • Inappropriate or obscene material from people or companies you don't know. • Misleading URLs on the Internet that point you to sites containing harmful or inappropriate materials rather than what you were looking for. • Anyone who sends you photos or videos containing obscene content of individuals 18 and younger (the possession, manufacturing, or distributing of child pornography is illegal) • Anyone who asks you to meet in person for sexual activities (no one should be making sexual invitations to you online – and it’s an especially serious crime for adults to do it). • If any of the above happens to you or a friend, tell an adult you trust and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline at cybertipline.com.

It facilitates understanding of the need to be just as protective of personal information online, as in the real world.   13. The More You Know: NBC News The World is more connected, documented, and technologically enhanced than ever.Parents want to know where their children are, even on the web. As digital natives children should learn to navigate the internet safely. Digital literacy and internet safety have emerged as some of the most important issues in our world. Today, with half (52%) of all children now have access to one of the newer mobile devices at home: either a smartphone (41%), a video iPod (21%), or an iPad or other tablet device (8%), it is crucial that children understand how to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely.
