Today at school little Homer is learning about Citizenship. Homer is very confused!
Homer’s friend Marge asks what he has done at school. “Today we learned about Citizenship” Homer says.
However, Homer still doesn’t have a clue what Citizenship is so Marge decides to explain to Homer.
Marge explains that Citizenship covers lots of things but part of it involves being a member of a particular community where everybody gets on and is treated equally regardless of their background or beliefs. Citizenship exists where ever you are in the world from schools to countries.
Homer still doesn't understand what it fully covers so Marge has to explain it all another way.....
When you are a citizen you have rights & responsibilities. This involves working together as a community to make it better for everyone. It involves voting for things that you want to happen like NEW roads, preventing sectarinism , & respecting & experiencing Each others cultures, beliefs & religions.
Homer understands this more but still feels his understanding of citizenship is incomplete Especially of how to be a good citizen.
“is that everything to do with Citizenship? how can i be a good citizen in my school?” Homer asked.
“Well .....................” Marge continued.
Well to be a good citizen in your school ........
“To be a good Citizen in your school you need to participate in school activities, Respect and get along with everyone who’s around you and abide by the school rules!” Marge Finished.
“Amazing!!” Homer finally Understands what Citizenship is and how to be a good one.
