  3. What is a Plan? • A Map • Shows where the troop is headed, where the challenges are and what you can expect to find along the way. • Provides a sense of direction • Communicates to all what the objectives are Troop 160 Oneonta, Alabama

Planning • Long-term • Planning that occurs at the annual troop program planning conference. • Determine what the troop will be doing for the next 12 months • Short-term • Planning that occurs monthly during PLC • By reviewing the annual program plan and filling in the details, troop leaders can finalize details of the troop meetings and activates for the coming month. Building the Plan • Do your homework • Evaluate the Troop’s past year • Gather District and Council dates • (camporees summer camp, banquets) • Gather dates for community and school functions, holidays • Review status of advancement for troop • Determine what kind of activities might be needed to help boys progress • Write down priorities / goals of the troop • High adventure, service projects, fund raising Troop 160 Oneonta, Alabama
