  1. Mean Girls By: Paulina Mendel, Chelsey Cons, Michael Cadoch and Alexandra Vonapartis

  2. About the Movie Mean girls is a movie about a girl named Cady Herron who’s experiencing public school for the first time ever. She becomes friends with the popular girls; Gretchen, Karen, and Regina. They are known to be “the plastics.” Eventually transitioning as a plastic herself she finds herself caught in a loop of not really knowing who her true self is anymore.

  3. The Girls • Represents different type of people in High School • Easy to determine there emotions through there body language • Shows us that we can all be easily read

  4. Regina George • The “queen bee”, the most popular girl in the school • Condescending • Aura of confidence on her • Always knows that whatever it is she does, she is the one who comes out on top.

  5. First Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoIdfRnQZ4A • Breathier tone of voice when Cady comes by • She straddles Aron’s hair • Gives Cady a condescending look • Smiles mischievously • Moves her body closer to Aron when Cady approaches

  6. Second Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoMRs2o6w1I • Regina’s arms are crossed • Her facial expressions completely change showing how two-faced she is • She blows kisses at the end of the scene. This is meant to give the illusion that she is truly sweet. • She grabs Cady’s arm in an abrupt hand motion to highlight her point about the bracelet

  7. Karen Smith • One of the sidekicks of the plastics • Listens to what anyone tells her to do • Doesn't’t know who she is nor does she care • Asks stupid questions and thinks she’s capable of unrealistic things

  8. First Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1lZKwggG0c • It is easy to tell what Karen is thinking by the way she moves her eyes and mouth • Rolls her eyes when she’s irritated • Looks down and sighs when she doesn’t care what people are telling her • Purces her lips when she hears something she doesn’t like • Mouth gaped open when she’s shocked • Smileswhen she’s talking to the leader

  9. Second Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re5veV2F7eY • Tilts her head to one side • Furrows her eyebrows • Eyes squint • Mouth gaped open

  10. Gretchen Wieners • Being the sidekick to the meanest girl in school, she feels there is a reputation to withhold.  • She also looks for Regina's approval in everything she says and does. I think she is insecure and she tries to impress Regina • When she is with Regina, you can see fear in her eyes

  11. First Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ovOboVwB7g Auditorium part 1: “Stop trying to make fetch happen!” Gretchen’s mouth is open which is a sign of anger. During Monologue: She raises her eyebrows which is another sign of anger. Small wrinkles on forehead third sign of anger. At the end of her monologue, her eyes are gazed down, which means she feels upset or ashamed. Bathroom scene: Again, she has wrinkles on her forehead, which demonstrates her anger. Her eyes are Gazing up which means that she is thinking (in this case she is thinking of a way to get back at Regina)

  12. Second Clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8_POt2KlfQ “Regina, we have to talk to you” Gretchen’s raises her eyebrows, sign of anger. She has wrinkles on forehead, sign of anger. “You can’t sit with us!” Eyes are bigger and her Lips are closed which means she is a bit concerned and angry. She then looks down, feels powerful and dominating over Regina. Finally, her hands are fisted which is a sign of aggression or determination.

  13. Cady Heron • Caddy is a teen experiencing public high school for the first time • She originally used to live in Africa but that all changed when her parents got a new job • She hated the new school she was going to but then she become friends with Janice and Damien • The three of them became good friends and they made Caddy become close friends with Regina George

  14. First Clip : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LORyEX_5czg • Cady frowns in a disapproving manner towards Regina. . Frowning is when someone doesn't feel comfortable or at ease and in this case Cady does feel comfortable or at ease since Janice (the girl Regina is making fun of) is secretly one of Cady's good friends. • Also if you look closely at the first five seconds of the clip one can see how Cady is not at all looking at Regina in the face/eyes when Regina asked why she was talking to Janice. • Cady looks at the bottom left while she is talking to Regina which is often done when someone is yelling and/or trying to hide something, which in this case Cady is trying to hide the that that Janice is actually her friend. • One last thing that once can notice while watching this clip is that Caddy is taking little inhale and exhale breaths. They aren't breaths that one does when breathing normally. Hers are done in short spans which is an indication of nervousness.

  15. Second Clip • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sT8wMBeVffk&app=desktop • Cady is frowning when Janice speaks to her. This means that she is second guessing herself and that she is realizing that the things Janice is telling her are actually true. • She looks away from Janice as she is speaking to her. • Also another last point that one picks up is at the very end of this clip when Janice throws Caddy the oil painting of Caddy, Janice, and Damien. As soon as Janice picks up the oil painting she starts to fidget and her eyes become a little watery. • Her fidgeting shows that she is shaken up by the situation and that she knows what she has done was wrong.

  16. Creative Portion • We interviewed a girl about her high school experience and asked her about the problem of “mean girls” • In the interview, we also asked about body language and related her personal issues to the movie Mean Girls. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZYbz3Lbg4c
