  2. KEYS TO OUR SUCCESS • Collaboration • Community Connection • Credibility • Consistency

  3. COLLABORATION • Tap into Existing Partnerships, Consortiums, Coalitions—No need to reinvent the wheel! • Work with both groups & individuals. • Identify each partner’s key strengths, assets, gifts. • Ask existing partners to spread the word to their contacts.

  4. COMMUNITY CONNECTION • Become well-known in your community. • Provide community education often. Even one or two people can become a “speakers bureau.” • Take advantage of “free” advertising i.e. church bulletins, flyers, public service announcements, community newsletters. • Go where your target audience “hangs out” i.e. Wal-Mart, Family Dollar Stores, Laundromats, Senior Centers, churches. • Ask for what you need.

  5. CREDIBILITY • Clearly state your affiliations/collaborations, including Avon, on all printed materials. • Site your guidelines on flyers, ads, etc. “American Cancer Society/American College of Radiology recommends annual mammography. . .” • Align your goals with state or national plans, and say so. “A HOPE Program goals support the 2010 Kentucky Cancer Action Plan of the Kentucky Cancer Coalition.”

  6. CONSISTENCY & CONTINUITY • Annual planning is essential. • Make every effort to schedule events at the same time yearly, quarterly, monthly. • Let clients and other agencies know when you’ll be back. • When appropriate, list several dates on one flyer, ad or article so women know their options. • Clearly state follow up procedures and name of person responsible when possible. • Become known as a resource.
