FOSTERING COOPERATION BETWEEN UNIVERSITIES IN THE AMERICAS

Created in 1979 in Quebec City, the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE) is an international university association that promotes cooperation between member institutions and fosters the development of higher education in the Americas and the Caribbean.

Mandate

  • To consolidate university networks in order to offer programs adapted to the specific needs of the Hemispheric Project on Teacher Training
  • To workwith member countries of the OAS to reach the objectives established in the Action Plans of the Summits, as well as in the Hemispheric Project on Teacher Training, for the development and offering of training and professional programs
  • To support the Inter-American Commission for Education in the monitoring of the Conferences of Ministers of Education and their Action Plans, as well as to support hemispheric projects
  • To put togethera guide of the content of programs for teacher training and professional development, carried out by institutions of higher education of the hemisphere
  • To offertraining and teacher development strategies to ministries of education and institutions of higher education, using Distance Education and Information Technologies
  • To support the Inter-American Commission for Education in the monitoring of the Hemispheric Project in the five regions: North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Mercosur, and the Andean Countries
