  6. Strategic Planning • When is the last time your chapter held a strategic planning session? • Did you know that CFMA offers FREE chapter strategic planning sessions? • Facilitated by experienced CFMA HQ staff to help guide decision making and planning • Customized agenda

  7. Chapter Bylaws • Does everyone on your board have a copy of your bylaws? • Review bylaws once a year • Are you operating as stated in your bylaws? • Terms of office • Nominations/elections • Size of board • General/Associate ratio of board members • Re-write your bylaws • Include date

Chapter Committees • Each chapter should have at least a Program Committee and a Membership Committee • Committee structure • Chair could be on the board • Committee members should not be board members • Board should not be doing the committee work • Sample committee descriptions are available

  13. STAR Program • $3,000 annual chapter subsidy • Funds in reserve for 3 years • To be eligible for STAR Program funds a chapter must submit: • Annual Chapter Affiliation Agreement • Signed agreement • Balance sheet • Proof of latest tax filing • Chapter Benchmarking Data

STAR Program • During the 2019-20 fiscal year, the $3,000 STAR Program funds may be used for the following: • Chapter Administrative Services expenses • Chapter Marketing expenses (tradeshow expenses, brochures, ads, promotional materials, etc.) • Chapter Educational session expenses (instructor, facility, workbooks, etc.) – includes Suicide Prevention summits An educational session outside of a regular chapter meeting offering more CPE than a chapter meeting and longer in length than a chapter meeting • CFMA Speaker Program and CFMA Education Programs • Chapter Strategic Planning expenses(facilitator, facility, food & beverage, etc.)

Chapter Summit • Saturday, June 1 from 8:00am-2:00pm • Each chapter should attend • Opportunity to meet your peers from chapters across the country • Hear from volunteers, just like you, facing similar challenges and how they are addressing them • Open forum time to discuss the topics that are most important to you in your role as a chapter leader • Meet and interact with the HQ staff dedicated to serving your chapter’s needs
