  1. DISCIPLESHIP 9 THE GREAT COMMISSION

  2. MATTHEW 28: 16 - 20 • 16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  3. The Command to Reproduce. So what was Jesus’ great secret? He modeled a lifestyle for them to follow. Everywhere He went, lives were changed.

  4. A Divine & Human Partnership • It doesn't all depend on us, and it's not our church to build. But God invites us to partner with Him in making disciples, so some of it depends on us!

  5. A soldier, an athlete & a farmer • You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. 3Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs; rather, they try to please their commanding officer. 5Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. 6The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 7Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. 2 Timothy 2: 1 - 7

  6. What are the Qualities needed for Spiritual Reproduction? • Proper Selection of Personnel.  • Creating an Environment for Reproduction. • "If you're thinking about taking [spiritual] reproduction seriously, dig in and stir the passion within, and then offer what you have to faithful people around you. That's how to start." • Bill Hull

  7. What are the Qualities needed for Spiritual Reproduction? • Proper Selection of Personnel.  • Creating an Environment for Reproduction.  • Passing on to the Right People.  • Imitation, not Impersonation.

  8. 1 Corinthians 4: 14 - 17 • 14I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children. 15Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16Therefore I urge you to imitate me. 17For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.

  9. What Can Be Passed on? • Faithfulness in the Lord • Are you a person of noble character who is faithful in the Lord?

  10. What Can Be Passed on? • A godly character • Are you and I being gradually transformed into being more like Christ? • Can people around you witness to and see that change in your life? • Are you attracting people to Jesus through your transformed lifestyle?

  11. What Can Be Passed on? • Mission & Message • A key to spiritual reproduction is having the same message!

  12. Application • Being a Christian is not simply having a ticket-to-heaven, but rather an exciting, daring, breathtaking, and even dangerous journey of faith.

  13. Conclusion • So where are you this morning on your journey? • Lets encourage one another, lets challenge one another to set the bar high. • May we be excited together as we see what God wants to do in us and through us here in NLCC.
