  8. Minor Vs. Specialization 8 • Minor • Requires 15 graduate level credits • Formally declared with Graduate School • Minor Professor of your choice to be included on committee • Visible on Transcript

Area of Specialization 9 • Comprised of 12 graduate level credits • 3 credits must be a related internship • Designed by you! • Emphasis on chosen functional area or topic • Not visible on transcript nor does it require formal declaration with graduate school • Electives can be within CSSA or another academic department

  10. Experiential Learning 10 • Internships • 9 credit hours required, can do more • 1 credit = 30 hours of work • Expectations negotiated between you and internship supervisor • Available at any institution and within any functional area • Project Credit • similar to an internship, not required • 1 credit = 30 hours of work • Assistantships • Can fulfill competencies • .49 FTE typically requires 19 to 20 hours of work each week • Specifics are job dependent

  11. Cohort Model & Dynamics 11 • Around 20 people, full time and part time • Each is different and unique • Offers support and collegiality • Friendships with people who have similar goals and interests • Networking opportunities
