  3. Why are we here? 99% of students at Southern are interested in going to college. -If you're not, that's okay too! 84% of students at Southern want to learn more about college.

  4. Graduating from Southern 28 credits Required Core Classes Required Electives If you don't know, your counselor can help!

  5. What do I need to... Attend a 4-year college or university? Attend a 2-year college (community college)? Go to technical school? Do something else? What about GPA? Docs? IT DEPENDS...

  7. College: Where do I start? Graduate from Southern :-) Talk to People -Current college students -Teachers, counselors, mentors, etc. -Family, friends, bosses Explore online!

  9. Research, Apply, Decide Research: Deadlines, Admissions Requirements, Programs, Dorms, etc. Apply: Online applications, Financial Aid, Scholarships, Letters of Rec, Essays Decide: Make sure you have visited the school! Look realistically about housing and costs

  10. Financial Aid What does it mean? -Money given to me for free or at a price to use for college expenses How do I get it? Complete your FAFSA when you're a senior!

  11. What's a FAFSA? FREE Application for Federal Student Aid -Online application: due by March 1st of 12th grade year and every year you're in college after that -FAFSA.GOV

  12. What's a FAFSA? -$ from the government -Parent/guardian must help you fill it out based on income & taxes -Grants: FREE MONEY! -Scholarships: potentially FREE MONEY! -Loans: Money I have to pay back at a price
