  5. How do I find the contact person in Television? • Watch!! • Internet • Watch local morning and evening news! • Take you kids on a field trip to station! • Call the advertising department ask for their media kit.

Do make follow up calls Write thank you note if press release got a story Do say “hello” when you see them in community Do leave message on voice mail Do send release by email Do complain if story is misquoted Don’t call after noon Don’t think they know you appreciated it.   13. What do television producers want? • Visual content grabs viewer’s attention • Bring balls, golf gym, golf club.( let the producer decide what to put on the air) • Demonstration ( motion in most effective) • Signs and text do not work • Write a “thank you” note

What do reporters want! • Do not want to be taken to lunch • Follow their format • Work on a deadline, return calls promptly, be flexible • Offer background materials on company • Study the reporters publications • Stay on track during interview • Don’t answer with “Yes” “ No” but be concise • Don’t ask to go “off the record” • Be attentive during interviews, no interruptions • Don’t ask to see story before publication • Write a “thank you” note
