QoLT Mine Portal Linda Hartman,Missy Harvey,Debbie Murphy,Roye Werner,andRobert Keene Abstract Purpose: Gather together in one easily accessible place a variety of information resources in the numerous subject areas of interest to QoLT researchers and provide guidance in their use. Method: Construct a gateway to articles, books, market research, companies, products, patents, technical reports, organizations, government resources, social networking tools, carefully selected by librarians to support QoLT research and entrepreneurial endeavors. Results: Foster communities of practice by providing researchers’ quick access to information from their own areas of expertise and unfamiliar subject areas. • Objectives • Overcome the challenge researchers face due to the current disarray of their knowledge base • Encourage researchers to interact with librarians to benefit from their expertise at searching and navigation • Broaden the exposure of researchers to resources in unfamiliar disciplines Examples • Methodology • Identified resources of greatest value to the QoLT community based on peer review, quality and accessibility • Captured these resources into a portal • Provided directions on usage • Included a feedback mechanism for the QoLT community • Next Steps • Incorporate feedback and suggestions • Add more subject areas and resources • Simplify greatly the search process • Enhance expert tips • Expand user base • Add QoLT-generated resources
