  1. How Can You Prevent Stormwater Pollution ? With the Stormwater, all kinds of chemicals and sediments are picked from the land to the waterways. As some are poisonous, a proper stormwater pollution prevention plan can ultimately help waterways avoid cause toxic and other pollution issues. Let us understand what Stormwater is? Stormwater is water from rainfall or melting snow that does not settle into the ground. It flows from over concrete areas, bare soil, lawns and keeps collecting and transporting the animal waste, litter, fertilizers, oil, soil, and many other substances. The ill-effects of Stormwater! Rain and snowmelt wash pollutants from land, roads, construction sites into storm gutters and holes and gets into streams and rivers with no treatment. Polluted Stormwater deteriorates our rivers, ponds, lakes, and other waterways. Nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen can lead to the growth of algae resulting in oxygen depletion in waterways. Toxic materials from vehicles, pesticides & fertilizers, eroded soil, animal wastes threaten water quality and harm marine & plant life. Eventually, such harmful pollutants are unsafe for wading, swimming, and fish consumption. Storm sewer flows, water that flows down driveways, streets, and outside areas into a storm sewer are not treated. Prevent Stormwater pollution– 1.Use sprinklers on a timer to avoid water flow. 2.Get fluid leaks, and make sure to clean up any spills. 3.Be sure to remove leaves and trash and not dump anything down storm drains. 4.Use biodegradable or non-toxic detergent that is phosphate-free for the car wash. 5.Use a rain barrel to manage runoff from your rooftop and gutters to be used on your lawn and garden. 6.Opt for organic options when possible and avoid applying them before a storm ( incase there is a weather forecast). 7.Held and place your lawn around 3″ in height to lessen weed growth and decrease pests’ likelihood. Keep your sidewalks and driveway clean. 8.Clean up pet waste and dispose of it in the trash to prevent harmful bacteria from washing into local waterways. You can use Rain Barrels as it conserves water & with harvested rainwater, you can water lawns, gardens, potted plants, and wash off patio furniture and tools. Also, with a rain barrel, landscapers can reduce or eliminate their use of chemical fertilizers.

  2. Synopsis – Fulcrum, an environmental consulting firm, offers services for Stormwater remediation. It is far more valuable and cost-effective to prevent pollution than correct difficulties later. Fulcrum engineers can perform a detailed inspection of a property, offer Storm Water Pollution Prevention Planning (SWPPP), QSP Monitoring and Reporting, and Compliance Services. We will be happy to serve you.
