What is TSCA? • The Toxic Substance Control Act is a United States law that regulates the new or already existing chemicals. • It prohibits the manufacture or importation of chemicals that are not on the TSCA inventory. • It has authority to require reporting and testing requirements, and restrictions relating to chemical substances and/or mixtures.

  3. Basic Info on TSCA • It was drafted on March 16,1976 • Became a law on October 11, 1976, but it became effective on January 1, 1977. • EPA has the responsibility to regulate and enforce The Toxic Substance Control Act.

  4. Issue • When asbestos-containing materials are damaged or disturbed by repair, or remodeling, microscopic fibers become airborne and can be inhaled into the lungs, where they can cause significant health problems. • It is found in buildings, such as the ceiling, floor tiles, roofing shingles and etc.
