  3. My Background • University of Central Florida BA-Ed • Starting my 13th year at Seminole Springs!

  4. My mother, Mrs. Luckeyhas a Masters in Education. She volunteers once a week in our class.

  5. Nuts and Bolts • Curriculum/Textbooks • Lake County’s curriculum can be found at lake.k12.fl.us in the Curriculum Department page. • ELA – Wonders by McGraw-Hill • Math – GO! Math by Harcourt • Science – Interactive Science by Pearson • Social Studies – My World by Pearson

  6. Grades *Fluency Your child should be reading at least 60 words per minute at this time. *Quizes pre-tests and midpoint checks *Tests Your child has to read the directions and do these on their own. *Assignments Classwork done on their own

  12. State Testing What will the Florida FCAT replacement test require my child to do? Information can be found at the Florida Dept. of Education’s Website (www.fldoe.org) in the “Online Portal and Resources for the Florida State Assessments” link.

  13. State Testing Once inside the portal, click on “Training Tests”.

  14. Important Times • Class begins at 8:25 a.m. • Lunch 11:42-12:12 • Specials 2:05-2:55 Monday- Media /Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday PE/Thursday -Music • Dismissal 3:15 p.m.

  15. Wednesday Specials are at 1:15 to 1:55

  16. We try to have a short recess every full day.

  17. Snack Time • Students can pack a healthy snack to eat mid-morning. A snack for the whole class is always appreciated!

  22. Child/Parent Responsibilities • Support and guide your child, don’t do it for him or her. • Show mom and dad what you can do on your own.

  23. My Mission for your Child I will do my best each day to give your child relevant knowledge, the courage to try new things, the curiosity to learn new thingsand the ability to be the best they can be.
