Introduction • York SOS is currently being founded by a dynamic York team (myself included) • We are all ridiculously excited and passionate • We need all the help we can get
SOS Mission • York SOS is a new branch of Canada SOS, a national charity/social entrepreneurship venture • The idea is to run "exam cram" group study sessions for difficult courses at York, asking participants for a small donation • We then use the money to build sustainable education projects in communities abroad (via overseas volunteer trips) • Our development work is done as responsibly as possible
What are ‘Exam Crams’ • SOS’s primary charitable initiative: • Student Volunteers tutor group review sessions called ‘Exam Crams’. • Sessions held 2-4 days prior to the exam. • Sessions provide all attendees a take-home package • (practice midterm, study package, review notes etc) • Students donate $20 dollars to our charity to attend an ‘Exam Cram’ ‘Exam Cram’ name will be modified and Trademarked for September 2008.
What’s in it for you • Amazing Experience: Volunteers get the unique experience of being a part helping create a student association which will: • Academically support 1000s of your peers • Raise $1000s for those less fortunate • Initialize an annual volunteer outreach trip and get priority for limited spots • Perfect resume experience for graduate / summer / full-time jobs, and great personal development experience to see the real impact you can make on the lives of 100s
