A motion was passed that the Camp continues to hold our meetings at 10:00 am on the 1st Saturday of each month. A motion was passed that the Guidon will be published twice per year, and that Kinkos has offered the lowest price for printing the Guidon. $100.00 will be allotted per year for printing and postage costs for producing and distribution of the Guidon. A GAR Marker was placed on the new headstone of the before mentioned Pvt. Thomas D. Smullen”s grave site. A motion was passed that Camp Willard may offer an ROTC Scholarship: A Committee will be set up to discuss this further. Any brother is encouraged to voice their opinion on this matter. Brothers in attendance for Nov. 11th meeting: Cmdr.Ray LeMay, Sec./Tres Paul Grady, Gary Salmon Peter Bond. Robert Hensel, Edward Cooke, David MacKercher, Thomas Capstraw, Henry Hamilton Cont: Commander’s Message On Veteran’s Day Nov. 11, 2007, we attended as Color Guard the dedication of a new headstone at St. Agnes’ Cemetery for Pvt. Thomas D. Smullen of Co. A, 192nd NY Vol. Inf. Regt. St. Agnes Cemetery has begun a new program to record and to recognize all Civil War veterans who are interred within the cemetery, and we look forward to participating in this new program. Brother Rick Touchette works for the Albany Diocese at St. Agnes’, and we are honored that we have been given the opportunity to help in this endeaver. Concluding our events of this past year I participated in the 25th annual Troy Victorian Stroll where I joined Troy Mayor Harry Tutujian and the oldest and youngest veterans of Rensselaer County NY in the 1st annual lighting of the Troy Union Soldiers and Sailors monument. Again, this was a great recruitment opportunity for our camp. My hopes is that 2008 will be as productive for Camp Willard as 2007 proved to be. I am working on securing for the camp 2-3 display cases at the new home of the Watervliet NY Historical Society. If any brother has items that could be displayed, please contact me. Plans are also in the works for an encampment at the Lansingburgh Veteran’s Club along with the 125th Regt. Association. Talks are also underway to resurrect the Troy Civil War Days weekend. I would also like to hear any suggestions and thoughts regarding an Annual banquet/dinner event for Camp Willard. I have seen other camps that hold a similar time. Please contact me with your thoughts on this. We are in the early stages of creating an ROTC Scholarship Award for high school graduates from two local Capital District military schools. Lastly brothers I am working on having a brother take over our website so it can be brought up to date. I Remain Yours In Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty Raymond W. LeMay lll Camp Commander Col.
