  4. Relevant Dates • April 30: XI R2 go-live • Now: Submit user reports to MAIS for conversion to XI R2 • September 17: Version 5 (current version) will no longer be available

  5. Two Types of Licenses • BusinessObjects InfoView: The Web-based interface for running reports. Best choice if you only run and print reports and export to Excel. • BusinessObjects Web Intelligence (WebI): The Web-based product for creating, editing, formatting, and drilling into reports.

  6. Two Types of Licenses • How do I know which license I have? • E-mail notification from MAIS Access Services (4/27/07). • Select New from the InfoView Home page. If you see Web Intelligence Document as an option, you have a WebI license. If not, InfoView.

  7. Benefits of XI R2 BusinessObjects Version XI Release 2: • Web-based—no more Citrix • You can access your reports from home—or anywhere via Internet • Will log in via Wolverine Access using Cosign and MToken • Mac support (Safari)

  8. Benefits of XI R2 • If you only run reports, can get InfoView license with minimal or no training • Reports categorized by both data area and business process • Improved export to Excel or text file—retains formatting, exports data from all report tabs at once

  9. Training and Support Resources • MAIS LINC: • BusinessObjects XI R2 InfoView and WebI Resources (Web page—search on “XI R2 resources”) • eLearning courses: • DDE001: InfoView - Running Predefined Reports • DDE002: WebI - Modifying Predefined Reports

Report Conversion • Must convert reports to run them in WebI • MAIS will convert all repository reports and submitted user reports • Submit your user reports now • The sooner you submit reports, the sooner they will be returned to you. • The conversion process may take several weeks due to high volume of reports (>10,000)

Report Conversion • Sending your version 5 reports to MAIS for conversion: • New process—resubmit reports that you sent last summer • Send only appropriate (purged) reports (refer to MAIS step-by-step procedure on submitting reports: www.mais.umich.edu/upgrades/download/boxi_submitrpts_ss.doc)

  13. Report Conversion Sending a report for conversion: • Log in to U-M institutional file system (www.mfile.umich.edu) • Change to the following directory: /afs/umich.edu/group/presoff/mais/BusObjsUpgrade/ReportsToConvert/ • Create a folder with your uniqname • Upload your version 5 reports DEMO

Report Conversion • If you submit a report for conversion: • MAIS will convert it, check for and fix common errors • You will be notified via e-mail when it is available in XI R2 (sometime after 4/30) • You run and validate the report (compare with v.5) • If any problems with converted report, you can: • Use MAIS tip sheet or • Call the MAIS Help Desk • See MAIS web site: www.mais.umich.edu/upgrades/boxi_rptconv.html

  16. Workstation Requirements • In order for InfoView and WebI to run properly, your system administrator or you will need to change certain workstation settings. • See MAIS Web site for details: www.mais.umich.edu/upgrades/boxi_workstationreqs.html

  17. Getting Started • Log in through Wolverine Access: University Business > Reporting > U-M Data Warehouse (BusinessObjects) • Log in with • Uniqname • Kerberos password • MToken tokencode

Getting Started • When you log-in for the first time: • Oracle password change screen • Enter your current BusinessObjects password (not Citrix) • For everyone but DRDA PRISM users, accept the default database • Type and confirm new password • Remember new password: you will need it for version 5

  20. Demo of XI R2 • Recommended preferences • Different views • InfoView only • Java Report Panel • Interactive Mode • Folders and Categories • Reports are stored within XI R2--no longer on your workstation or network drive • Four important folders

  21. Four important folders • Personal (Favorites and Inbox) • Public • UM-Maintained • Unit-Maintained • User-Shared

  22. Public Folders • UM-Maintained • Formerly known as corporate documents or repository reports • Unit-Maintained • Reports written and maintained by a unit and made available to unit staff – will be implemented after go-live • User-Shared • “Free-for-all” area available to all users

  23. Public Folders • User-Shared • Reports written by WebI users. • Anyone can save a report here that they want to share with others. • Purge data from report before saving. • This folder is emptied at the end of each month! Keep a copy in your Favorites of any report you save here.

  24. Storing and Sharing Reports • Storing reports (no longer on your hard drive) • Set up folders in your Favorites • Sharing reports with others • Send to BusinessObjects Inbox or • Save report (purged of data) in User-Shared folder
