  3. What is Elluminate? • A software package that enables us to communicate remotely via the internet • Presentation (PowerPoint) • Interactive (audio; video; white board; chat; sharing application) • Recorded as a reusable learning objects

  4. How do we use Elluminate? • A virtual classroom – supporting mixed mode of attendance • Student group activities • Staff meetings • Online conferences / conference recording • Supporting placement visits • …

  5. Different levels of access • Participant – attending meetings • Moderator – host meetings • Supervisor – create meetings • Administrator – create courses • Manager – promote; create; report

  10. Before the session • Get a virtual office (meeting scheduled) • Send the guest link to participants • Ask participants to do checkups • Planning the session • Hardware • Content and activity • Establish the rules/roles • Upload presentation before the session starts

  11. During the session • Familiarisation – white board, chat box, etc. • Video camera or not? • Share application (selected by you) • Breakout rooms • Stay in control • Recording or not recording?

  13. Demonstration • Tools – audio – audio setup wizard (speaker / microphone) • Maximum simultaneous talkers • Press ‘ctrl+F2’ to speak • Recording • Tools – video – enable video camera support • Maximum simultaneous video cameras • White board – insert text, images, highlighter, eraser, etc.

  14. Upload a presentation • PowerPoint presentation can be uploaded • It takes time to do so – do it before the lecture • Each slide is loaded as a picture – animation is lost • Pointer is very useful • To keep animation • Use separate slides • Share application

  15. Share applications • Participant can also share application • Open the file/application you would like to share • Press the ‘Share Selected Application’ button on the top tools bar • Your window might look different • You can stop sharing anytime you like

  16. Breakout rooms • Moderator can create break out rooms • Tools – breakout room • Moderator can distribute participants • Or allow them to move to breakout rooms

  17. Stay in control • Give/take away moderator’s privilege • Remove participant • Permission – audio, video, chat, write Emotion icons
