  5. IPWG • Nov. 2005--Immtrac is in collaboration with Texas Medical Association TMA and Texas Pediatric Society TPS to develop a working group to discuss ImmTrac issues with private providers. • Priority High leverage Actions • Derived from a much larger set of tasks • Deemed most critical

Priority High leverage Actions • Target Birth Registrars and educate on the benefits (G1) • Data entry through clearinghouse / billing data (TISWG) • Approach large physician groups first (large = 25+ pediatricians) (G2) • Physician and/or administrative champion to see implementation through (G2); enlist physician champions to influence peers (TISWG) • Get school nurses to add immunization data (G1) • Commitment to educate within organized medical roundtables/forums, etc. (G3) • Grassroots campaign to get volunteers to do data entry; such as RSVP (G3) • Train the physicians staff (G2) • Get health plans to report activities (with incentives if needed) (G1) • Educate providers to encourage “ownership and involvement” (TISWG) • Hands-on training for those not using program may increase participation (G3) • Give TWICES to providers that don’t have other access to systems that feed ImmTrac (G1) • Make ImmTrac information/consent information available at daycare centers, Head Start, WIC (G1)

  7. Texans Speak Out • Survey effort put together by a coalition including St. David’s and the Houston Area Immunization Partnership • Information gathered via a series of Town Hall Meetings • Presented at the 2008 Immunization Summit in Austin

Texans Speak Out, Key Recommendations • To improve immunization information systems, we should: • Ease the burden of data entry for clinics by adopting HL7 standards to link with electronic interfaces to existing software packages • Improve data quality • Make data available to health care providers in a more timely manner • Balance individual rights to privacy and access to information • Allow adults to maintain their immunization records in ImmTrac • Make immunization data accessible inside and outside Texas • Create financial incentives for full participation in immunization information systems
