  1. 3/19/09 Flight Readiness Review

  2. Animal Motor Works (AMW) K475WW High Power Rocket Motor. 54 mm casing, 40.3 cm long, 2.9 seconds burn time, 1394 N-sec total impulse, and 474.2 Newtons average thrust. Motor Selection

  3. Rocket flight stabilityin Rocksimstatic margin diagram • Thestability margin is 3.45

  4. Thrust to weightmotor selectionin flight simulation • 474 N average thrust • 221 oz

  5. Rail exit velocity • Launch guide length: 96.0000 In. Velocity at launch guide departure: 60.3 ft/s

  6. Parachute sizes and descent rates • The drogue parachute parachute was built by Ernie Puckett and descent rate is 88 ft/s. • The hemispherical main parachute was donated by Edward Warinski of Alpha Hybrids. • Velocity at landing: Vertical: 17 ft/s. • 54inches in diameter with 8 inch spill hole.

  7. Test plans and procedures • The first flight of our scale model occurred January 17, 2009. • The full scale rocket was flown on March 14, 2009 • Video footage from March 28:

  8. Full-sized final rocket flight test

  9. Dual deploymentavionics test • We successfully tested the avionics in both rockets and we are using the same equipment in the full sized rocket with an added G-Wiz flight computer back up system.

  10. Ejection chargeamount test • We used .75 grams of black powder in the scaled down rocket. We calculated this using the uroc.org black powder calculation website: http://uroc.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=628 • We used 1.4 grams of black powder for the drogue parachute and 1.7 grams of black powder for the main parachute. We used the black powder calculator on: http://www.info-central.org/recovery_powder.shtml

  11. Payload integration feasibility • Camera bay hatch. • "Record" access hole added to hood. • Transmitting GPS donated as a loaner. Small logging GPS and a sonic locator optional.
