  1. PTA Newsletter Volume 2 February 2014 HFES PTA Website: http://www.loudoun.k12.va.us/domain/7199 Our inaugural Multi-Cultural Celebration will be held March 28thin the gym and café and is certain to be an exciting evening! There will be booths representing different countries, food, and entertainment! We are still looking for families to prepare displays representing their country of origin. If your family is interested in participating, the school will provide a tri-fold board and table. All you have to do is decorate your board and bring in a few items such as clothing, books, newspapers, etc. from the country you are representing. This will give the children the opportunity to teach others about their heritage and should be a lot of fun! Please contact Madhaven or Hema (madhoo7@gmail.com or hemasrinivasan@gmail.com) to let them know if you would like to participate in this festive event at HFES! • Hutchison Farm Elementary • 42819 Center St. • South Riding, VA • 703-957-4350 • Fax: 703-444-8020 • UPCOMING EVENTS: • Mar 4 : PTA Meeting 8:30am, lounge • Mar 7: Bingo Night • Mar 11: Spring ASEP registration • Mar 17: Pinocchio Assembly • Mar 18-19: Spirit Nights at KuleYo’s • Mar 28: Multicultural Celebration BINGO NIGHT Our Spring Bingo Night will be Friday, March 7th and promises to be great fun for the whole family! 2. ASEP Updates The weather wreaked havoc on our schedule this winter session and we have had to adjust the ending dates as well as the start dates for Spring. The final classes for the Winter Session are now: Tuesday classes end March 11th, Wednesday classes end March 19th, and Thursday classes end March 20. Registration for the Spring Session begins on March 11th. There will be more information coming home in Friday folders or you can view the upcoming schedule of classes at www.enrichmentmatters.com/hfes. The PTA has many scholarships available for these classes so please do not let financial concerns keep your child from this enriching opportunity. To request a scholarship, contact our Parent Liaison Iris Maluka today. **Please join us for a FREE PARENT SEMINAR “Increasing Responsibility in Children,” by Neil McNerney on Thursday, March 27th at Liberty Elementary School library. McNerney will focus on getting your child to be self-motivated and address why rewards and punishments don’t always work.** ==================================================================================== TO Get Involved! We Want YOU ==================================================================================== After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) Our ASEP program has been highly successful this year but we cannot run this program without volunteers! If your child will be participating in an ASEP class, please consider volunteering to assist with ASEP check in. This is a 30 minute commitment from 2:30-3:00 one day a week during the ASEP session. Contact Karen Grant at karen.grant@hfespta.org as soon as possible to volunteer your time! JOB OPENINGS! HELP WANTED! We have been extremely lucky to have had some longstanding volunteers in critical programs over the years but some of them, after FIVE years on the job, are looking to pass the torch to YOU. We are looking for someone to run our Box Tops program, DDC campaign/PTA membership, and School Pak programs. These positions are very important and we would like to identify replacements as soon as possible. The ladies who have run these programs have all volunteered to help with the transition and answer any questions you may have. If you’re too intimidated to take a program on by yourself, get a friend to team up with you! Please consider giving your time to keep these programs running smoothly! Contact Sherry Zamora (sherry.zamora@hfespta.org) if you are willing to help! Thank you to Jen Kaskas and Mike Seymour for running our School Dance and raffles! Everyone had a great time and the raffles brought in nearly $200 for the PTA. A highlight of the evening was seeing Dr. Kravitz dancing with his lovely wife, Margaret! A huge shout out to our South Riding businesses who generously sponsor our many events at HFES! The PTA would like to thank Dr. Kravitz, Top Kick Martial Arts, KuleYO’s, Manhattan Pizza, Jersey Mikes, andMoe’s for their sponsorship of a number events so far this year! Please consider patronizing these business to help show our appreciation for their support! THANK YOU! Gracias! Spacibo! Merci! Danke!
