  2. Context • October 2013 Dementia Workshop expresses a wish to take forward dementia-friendly communities agenda • Shropshire Health and Wellbeing Board designates 2014 as the Year of Dementia Training and Awareness Raising • DATIS project is initiated at end of 2013

  3. DATIS- Objective To facilitate the development of Shropshire based dementia-friendly communities by supporting dementia awareness raising and training in Shropshire

DATIS- Actions • Develop & Implement Shropshire Council’s DAA action plan, which has 4 key actions: • Support the emergence of Shropshire-based ‘Dementia- Friendly Communities’ • Raise awareness of access to diagnosis and the post-diagnosis support available to those with dementia and their families • Increase the number of ‘Dementia Friends Champions’ within Shropshire Council • Encourage all Shropshire Council staff to complete a ‘Dementia Friends’ information session - including those who work in customer-facing roles and those who do not

  5. DATIS- Further Actions • Produce resources, and publicise existing resources, to assist Shropshire communities aiming to become more dementia-friendly - i.e. Dementia Friendly Community Pack & Dementia Information Prescription • Support community led dementia-friendly initiatives through workshops, dementia-friends sessions and developing a Shropshire DAA Steering Group • Work in partnership with Shropshire dementia-friendly movement to deliver an awareness raising campaign through Dementia Awareness Week in May
