American Civil War Era (1840-1880) • January 1861 the South Secedes • Abraham Lincoln a opponent of slavery was elected • South Carolina legislature thought was a threat to them • They called state convention and voted to removeSouth Carolina from United States of America. • The secession of South Carolina was followed by the six more states seceding • Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas • 4 more threaten to secede Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina. • These eleven states eventually formed the Confederate States of America.

American Civil War Era cont… • April 1865-Assassination of President Lincoln. • On April 14, as President Lincoln was watching a performance of "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. • Shot by John Wilkes Booth • an actor from Maryland obsessed with avenging the Confederate defeat. • Lincoln died the next morning. • Booth escaped to Virginia. Eleven days later, cornered in a burning barn, Booth was fatally shot by a Union soldier. Nine other people were involved in the assassination; four were hanged, four imprisoned, and one acquitted.

  5. World War 1 (1914-1918) • June 28th 1914- Assignation of Francis Ferinand • At Sarajevo • Archduke of Austria • Led to World War One • They were warned not to come but ignored the threat and came anyway. • Start of World War One.

  6. World War 1 cont… • April 6th 1917 - USA declared war on Germany • Enters the conflict after many years • Great help to the effort • Many soldiers during war • Supplies help the armies

Demonstrate how superior technology assisted the Union Army in their quest to keep the United States one nation. • It helped because technology was improving that communication improved and weapons so they Union army won more and more battles which eventually led to United States staying as one.

  9. Identify types of aircraft used in the Civil War and explain the impact of these aircraft on battle tactics. These aircrafts helped during the civil war because it was attack from sky which made easier for some things such as bombing ground soldiers
