  3. Family Vacation Time! • Your LAST Field Assignment is being assigned to you TODAY! • You are going on a FAMILY VACATION! • Remember to focus and be on time – It is worth 200 PTS! I am doubling the grade!

  4. Trip-Planning Tips Have a tentative budget and schedule so your trip planning can be accomplished in a realistic manner . Note any expectations, or requests, such as if your definition of “roughing it” is a room at a three-diamond hotel . 3. Are you bringing the family pet? 4. Are you traveling with someone who has special needs?

If you’re leaving the country, you’ll need a passport, and possibly a visa or health documentation http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html If your destination is a country where English is not spoken as the first language, write down some useful phrases ahead of time or purchase a dictionary in that language. Make sure you are aware of any cultural sensitivity so as to avoid offending anyone. States & Sights • North Carolina • En route passing through Charlotte • Amusement Park – Carowinds in Charlotte suburb(full day) • En route evening drive • Mileage: 225 miles • Time: 9.5 hours • South Carolina • En route passing through Pee Dee river region • Stop in Florence for food and gas • Late night arrival in North Myrtle Beach at beach house • Week filled with beach visits, bike rides, tennis, dinners out, zoo trip, golf outings, and horse show • Mileage: 150 miles • Time: 3 hours

  10. Return Trip Mileage: 656 miles Time: 10.5 Hours Plus 6 hours for stops. The return trip will include a less eventful trip along a major interstate highway passing through the states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland and Pennsylvania. Two stops in Virginia first at King’s Dominion theme park for fun and activity as well as dinner at a relative’s home for a visit as well. A late night arrival in PA will end the trip.

Budget & Monetary Allowance Length of Trip – 7 Days • Day 1 – $250 for gas, food, excursion tix, hotel • Day 2 - $175 for food, excursion parking fee, gas • Day 3 - $150 for food, gas • Day 4 - $50 for food, excursion tix • Day 5 - $50 for food • Day 6 - $250 for food, gas, shopping • Day 7 - $100 for food, excursion parking fee, gas • Total needed: $925.00 *Beach house was a free family rental. • The amount of $1200.00 plus a major credit card should be taken to ensure security from “accidents” and “mishaps”.
