This study aims to analyze land use changes in Dakota County between 1984 and 2001, utilizing imagery analysis techniques. By examining satellite images, we assessed various land cover changes and the factors contributing to these transformations. The study identifies challenges such as data quality and classification issues. Future research will focus on impacts linked to the Hastings Bridge and involve supervised classifications for improved accuracy. Understanding these changes is crucial for effective planning and management in the region.

challenges • Time • Data quality • Classification vacillation • Lack of familiarity with study site
Future study • For future projects, we propose to focus on the impact of the Hastings bridge • Actual classes assessments • Undertake a supervised classification that would enable us do an accuracy assessment of our results • Undertake analysis of the underlying factors of change within county boundary
Conclusion • Different land uses have emerged since 1984 and the population and other social dynamics increases both in scales and magnitude leading to transformation and conversion into other forms • It remains uncertain what the actual causes of these changes are…..changes are not attributable at this point for such conclusive statements could be made • Future assessment of change factors will be useful for planning and projections
