  1. Understanding Fertility: Guide to Reproductive Health and Wellness

  2. Understanding fertility Fertility is the natural ability of an individual or couple to conceive and reproduce. In women, it depends on the healthy release of eggs, proper functioning of the fallopian tubes, and the ability of the uterus to support a pregnancy. In men, fertility relies on the production of healthy sperm in sufficient numbers to fertilize an egg. On a larger scale, fertility is also measured in populations through fertility rates, which indicate the average number of children born to women during their reproductive years.

  3. What factors influence fertility? A number of factors – including age, ovulatory disorders, sperm issues, and more – can impact a person's chances of conceiving. Oftentimes some factors are already known to patients coming in, while others may still yet be undiagnosed By consulting a fertility specialist and undergoing fertility testing, you’ll be able to gain more insight into the factors that are most likely influencing your ability to conceive.

When you need the assistance of a donor or surrogate to access sperm, eggs, an embryo, or a uterus, seeking fertility care is of course a key consideration. But if this is not your situation, you may wonder if and when your circumstances warrant this type of care. Here’s a list of situations for which we recommend the support of a fertility specialist to increase your chances of conceiving:
