North Carolina Military Business Center Goals:Increase federal contracting with NC firms; recruit defense contractors; integrate military into the workforce • Business Development (25 May 2007) • Team operating in 10 locations (8 Community Colleges) • 2005-6: Firms won 198 contracts, worth $185-285 million • 2007: Firms won 54 contracts, worth $208.5 million • MatchForce.org (25 May 2007) • 8,980 NC businesses, 13,971 individuals registered • 8,650 contract, 2,876 job opportunities; all fed/state jobs • $42.4 million in known “wins” by notified firms, 2006-07 • Strategic Focus • Construction: win fair share of $5B at NC bases by 2012 • NC firms to compete; out-of-state firms to locate in NC • Preposition: firms for service contracts – listed on ncmbc.us • Subcontracting: develop opportunities for NC firms • Employment: boost commercial job posting; sustain gov’t • Installations: BUY NC when national sources not mandatory • Fully leverage BRAC, recruitment opportunities
