  1. The Number Zero Introduction: In this unit I have learnt many things about the number zero. I learn’t where the number zero comes from, when it spread to Europe and various other facts on the origin on the number zero.

  2. Historical Facts • Where did the number Zero come from? Zero is the inventions of Indians dating as far back as the 5th century and in the 9th century they actually started using it. Zero traveled over the World due to various travelers from England & UK countries. • When did it spread to Europe? Leonardo Fibonacci introduced the concept of Zero to Europe in 1202 with his lovely little book called Liber Abaci. It introduced the Hindu-Arabic decimal system to Europe • Describe what was wrong with the roman numerals number system? The roman numerals didn’t have the number zero which made it quite difficult to do negative numbers. • Contrast the roman numerals to the new number system: the new number system and the roman numerals are very different because instead of 1, 2, 3 they had: I, II, III and that’s why it’s different. Our new number system has a zero and we can do more advanced math than when we had the roman numerals.

  3. Human Ingenuity • What is technology? The application of tools and methods: the study, development, and application of devices, machines, and techniques for manufacturing and productive processes. Or the method of applying technical knowledge: a method or methodology that applies technical knowledge or tools. Or machines and systems: machines, equipment, and systems considered as a unit. • Where does technology come from? Technology came from higher dimension. It is impossible for men kind to understand or create technology if the base of technology was not given to them from higher reality. True Definition of technology: Technology is a synthetic or artificial way of doing what natural things do. The best way to look at it is like this: Natural things came from Creator but technology came from creation. Technology is not 100% pure. It solves one problem but as a side effect it creates another problem. Natural things are 100% pure and therefore it has no side effect. • In what ways has technology shaped our lives? Technologies arise to satisfy our wants and needs, this is how society and technology shape the future for one another. As individuals, we are in control of the future. We should dream big and start finding ways to make our dreams into reality. • What would the world be like without technology? I think the world without technology would be hard to live in. we would have a lot less entertainment and fun. Factories, businesses, industries would be shut down. We would have a lot less. I probably wouldn’t have survived as a baby because there is no technology to help us young ones to survive. • How have my own views of technology changed? Yes and no because I’ve always thought of technology as fun and I still do but it s kind of taking over our lives. So much new technology like the laptop, ipad and many others are trying to outdo each other with more technology as the previous one, and that drives me crazy; it’s so hard to keep up with all the new stuff and so much of our lives has happened because of technology.

  4. Europe • Where did the number Zero come from? Zero is the inventions of Indians dating as far back as the 5th century and in the 9th century they actually started using it. Zero traveled over the World due to various travelers from England & UK countries. • When did it spread to Europe?
