  2. WIND How do you know the wind is there? You FEEL it and sometimes you HEAR it. What things do you notice on a windy day?

  3. Let’s read a book called The Wind Blew by Pat Hutchins.

  4. Now, let’s make a wind sock! Roll a piece of paper up and tape it closed so it makes a big tube. Now, tear another sheet into strips and tape them to the end of the tube.

  5. Poke holes near the top with your pencil and tie string to your wind sock. Now, hold your wind sock string and run. Can you make it flutter? Hang it from a tree on a windy day. What happens to your wind sock?

  7. Did you know that wind can tell you a lot about the weather too? If the winds come from the ocean, it might be carrying rain. If it comes from the land, it might be warm and dry. If it comes from the north, it is usually cold!

  8. Homework:Use your wind sock to check the wind. See you next time Scientists!
