  1. Weezer By Loren Kessell & their influences

  2. A little about them… • Formed in Los Angeles, California in 1992 • Alternative rock • Consists of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, lead guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums, guitar, backing vocals), Brian Bell (rhythm guitar), and Scott Shriner (bass) • Former members include Jason Cropper, Matt Sharp, and Mikey Welsh

  3. Rivers Cuomo • Born June 13, 1970 in Manhattan • Named Rivers because his mother first heard the sound of a river outside her hospital window • Attended Harvard

  4. Patrick Wilson • Born February 1, 1969 in Buffalo, New York • One of the founding members of Weezer along with Rivers • He attended community college, but dropped out • "College is such bunk. Too much politics and jockeying for favor. I just couldn't do it. College is great if you want to learn, but that's not what college is about, it's about making your professor happy and getting good grades and getting into an IBM. Any place that says that they're only accepting college graduates is not a place I'm very interested in being."

  5. Brian Bell • Born December 9, 1968 in Iowa City, Iowa • Part of a band called Carnival Art before joining Weezer • Made his movie debut as Lou Reed in the movie Factory Girl • Brian Bell gave Weezer his business cards in hopes that his band could open for Weezer before he joined

  6. Scott Shriner • Born July 11, 1965 in Toledo, Ohio • Joined the Marines for two years after high school, but decided to play bass professionally • During one of Weezer’s shows he was attacked by an ex-bandmate, but continued to play while security dragged him away

  7. If someone's paying attention it doesn't worry me, no matter what the reason is. We're nerds compared to a typical rock band - none of us are big drinkers or partiers. We're not concerned with picking up girls every night. We like romantic endeavors and studying things on the road. - Brian

  8. Random Facts • The bands symbol of the Flying W is inspired by Van Halen's flying VH • The Spike Jonze video for the single Undone -- The Sweater Song is filmed in an unbroken take • Brian cited throwing the contents fruit basket out his hotel window in Las Vegas in 1995 as the first time he felt like a rock star • All the members, as of 2006, except Pat Wilson (drummer) meditate for 5 to 20 minutes before each show
