  1. Campus Committees • Student voice in campus policy • Academic Senate and administrative • Examples of Academic Senate: Academic Freedom, Student Diversity and Academic development, Graduate Council • Examples of administrative: Advisory Committee on Creative Arts, Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Dependent Care, Health Fee Advisory Board • Alternative to serving on a GA committee • Appointed by the CAVP

  2. Committee Clusters • Over 60 committees have student representation • Clusters (overlapping): • Equity and Inclusion (e.g., Committee to the Vice Chancellor of Equity & Inclusion; Student, Diversity and Academic Development) • Campus facilities (e.g., Design Review Committee) • Advocacy (e.g., Cal Climate Action Partnership, Committee on Student Actions and Demonstrations) • Academics (e.g., Academic Freedom, Grad Council) • Student Support (e.g., Campus Bicycle Subcommittee, Health Fee Advisory Board) • Community (e.g., Chancellor’s Community Partnership Fund)

  3. Organization and Vacancies • In development: Website for accessing information on committees and getting in touch with representatives (via ASUC and GA coordinators) • Vacancies • Academic Senate: 4 vacancies (out of 13 committees with student rep) • Administrative: 35 vacancies (out of about 50 committees—some committees have more than one spot for a graduate student representation)

  4. We need your help! • Current make up of reps: GA exec board, project coordinators, officers, delegates, and other graduate students • Some of these committees require specialized knowledge or serve particular communities (e.g., Design Review Committee, Haas Public Service Award Committee, Student Technology Council) • Delegates can help out by either applying to fill these vacancies or letting their departments know about the opportunities

What you can do • All information on the committees (vacancies, representative responsibilities, application) found on the GA->Advocacy->Campus Committees page: • https://ga.berkeley.edu/campus-committees • Responsibilities include • attending committee meetings (usually monthly) • keeping the GA up to date on committee issues • working with the GA to reach out to students potentially impacted by the committee’s work • writing a report once a semester detailing the committees goals, accomplishments • Apply!
