I-696 @ Van Dyke (Pilot Area) Westbound I-696 at Hoover High Impact: Place Holder – Video Clip 1:30 • Start Time 11:22, End Time 12:33, February 16, 2014 • 11:22 - While monitoring the MiDrive SEMTOC operators notice indicators were displaying black (indicates no movement at all on the roadway) Westbound I-696 at Van Dyke. SEMTOC discovered on camera multiple tow trucks responding to about 10-16 vehicles that were involved in accidents. • 11:25 - High Impact was initiated and Marlon Spinks (Macomb TSC) was notified by phone • 12:33 Fire and Police cleared the scene MCRC blade and salted the area thoroughly. High Impact was taken down freeway re-open.

Discussion Items • Integrated Corridor Management will more closely align freeway operations and arterial street operations in Metro Detroit. • Increased emphasis on arterial operations was one of the objectives that emerged from the Regional Concept of Transportation Operations for Metro Detroit.  • Integrated Corridor Management provides the opportunity to proactively improve and maximize the performance of the transportation system by serving as an alternative to traditional major infrastructure investments which may be more expensive or constrained by environmental issues.
