  1. In 1985, the Guerrilla Girls started a group, inspired to change the word "Feminism." The group was dedicated to change woman artist' reputations.

  2. The Gorilla Girls masks became their trademark to hide their identities during interviews. This started the Gorilla (Guerrilla Girls) Warfare in 1985.

  3. 1985, Women artist were only being paid 1/3 of what men did. Men's artwork was also more often seen in a museum.

  4. 1988,Guerrilla Girls design a poster to show the advantages of women artist. The main point is the disadvantages for woman's artwork.

  5. The Guerrilla Girls were going 'mainstream' to show society that women artists were just as equal in the art world as men artists.

  6. Are women bus drivers more acknowledged than the New York City Galleries? "At least being a woman artist is not the loneliest occupation." (GG)

  7. 1989, Guerrilla Girls designed a poster emphasizing that you must have to be nude to be an artist in a NYC museum.

  8. In 1995, The Guerrilla Girls discover an astonishing number of white males compared to those of minority in the Whitney Bowes Museum.

  9. Guerrilla Girls gave a demonstration on why women are tokens in the art world. After this appearance women are getting more attention.

  10. Racial stigmas for men and woman seem to be just as part of the art world as women being minorities as artist.

  11. 1998, The Guerrilla Girls wrote a book about women and western art and described the struggles and obstacles the women had overcome.

  12. The Guerrilla Girls' Beside Companion Book is a hit around the world. • Today it's used in the classroom like our WMNST3 Class.

  13. In 1999, the Guerrilla Girls attacked Rudolph Giuliani's plan for the Brooklyn Museum. Basically showing how bias the city is in NYC.

  14. 2002, a billboard is posted in Los Angeles during the Oscars. • The poster shows how every year a white male is nominated.

  15. 2003, the 'girls' second book comes out "smashing", that is female stereotypes! This book is geared toward the injustices of women artists.

  16. The Guerrilla Girls came out with a sticker "Don't Stereotype Me", because of the success of the book was so greatly publicized.

  17. 2004, The Guerrilla Girls come out with a 'Art Museum Activity Book.' Outlining their messages and the struggles for women as artists.

  18. In 2004, the Guerrilla Girls carried around posters just like these ones. If this does not get the point across, what will?

  19. In 2005, Frieda and Roslyn made a visit to PSU. They talked about their campaign to 'Free the Women Artist of Venice.'

  20. With their encouragement a classmate urged the Palmer Museum to show more women artwork. Now an entire section is dedicated to women's artwork.

  21. The Gorilla Warfare become known worldwide due to their campaigns and ballbusting posters. Guerrilla Girls have made the artworld more woman friendly.

  22. The Guerrilla Girls are still campaigning and still sporting their Gorilla masks. They'll continue long as their is changes to be made.
