  2. Early Life • Born Edgar Hemingway • Born into poverty • Hungry all the time (one meal a day) • Parents fought • Dad alcoholic • Got a job at fifteen to bring in money for his family • Became alcoholic after father • Struggles with himself

  3. How did he get his ability? • Working at IHOP during thunderstorm • Building struck by lightning • Electric current flows through oven, spatula, into him • Wakes up in ER, claps, PANCAKE appears between his hands

  4. His Powers • Claps, makes pancake between hands • If too many pancakes, quality drops • If drunk, pancakes floppy and gross • Tries to use powers for good, but held back by alcoholism • Prevents making pancakes by wearing gloves • Leaves succesful business to fight world hunger

  5. Fatal Flaw • Like his dad, he becomes an alcoholic • Struggles between alcoholism and his powers • Alcoholism interferes with his powers by making the pancakes tired, and reducing his capacity for making them
