What can CSOs do differently with RBA knowledge attained? Group 1
How participants will integrate RBA design in their programmes. • We need to sensitise our organizations internally on the knowledge we acquired from the three day workshop, our partners, stakeholders/clients, communities, donors • We need to critique our own programmes from a the RBA perspective (get/develop the assessment tools from HENNET). • We present the critique to the management/team members • Identify the gaps and give suggestions on what needs to be done • Prioritise actions that can be taken in the short and long term
The challenges of human rights based programming Internally: • It is expensive • It time consuming • It requires a lot of lobbying and advocacy • It requires capacity building Externally: • Challenge of trade-off on the technical capacity of those selected • Culture could be a hindrance, e.g where women sit separately from men in barazas • Restrictive requirements from donors • Communities become more empowered and become more demanding because of higher expectations
The relevance of RBA to realization of the set programmes • It enhances ownership and sustainability • Creates more awareness amongst the community of their rights • Enables effective identifications of vulnerable groups
