  3. What Is The Family & Medical Leave Act(FMLA)? A legislative requirement that mandates that LCPS provide 60 working days of leave with job and benefit protection You are eligible for FMLA after having worked for LCPS for one year School Board Policy requires sick leave be used at the same time as FMLA

  4. What Is Short-Term Disability Insurance? A benefit provided at no cost to you that provides income replacement during a period of certified disability. • Short-term disability covers the period of time you are recovering from childbirth (generally 6-8 weeks) • The elimination period is 20 calendar days, starting with your first full day of absence after giving birth • Benefit is 60% of your gross pay • Benefit pays during the disability period only– not for the full FMLA period • Cigna Disability is the benefit provider – you must file the claim

Things To Remember • Register to attend a maternity/paternity workshop • at least 2 months prior to your due date (you are welcome to bring a guest) • Talk to your administrator about your leave plans • Call Retirement & Disability Programs at 571-252-1690 if you have any questions • Have fun as you prepare for your baby!
