  3. Shutter An opaque piece of cloth or metal which opens and closes to control the length of time light strikes the film.

  4. Shutter Release Button A button which releases the shutter mechanism. Return to Quiz

  5. Film Advance Lever Ittransports the film from one frame to the next on the roll of film. Return to Quiz

  6. Aperture Ring The aperture opens and closes to control the diameter, or size, of the hole that the light passes through. The numbers on the aperture ring are called f-numbers. Return to Quiz

  7. Viewfinder The “window” where you look to frame your photo.

  8. Film Rewind Knob This knob rewinds the film back into the film canister as you turn it. Open the lever and turn in the direction of the arrow located on the crank. Return to Quiz

  10. Self-Timer This mechanism trips the shutter after a short delay of usually 7 to 10 seconds allowing the photographer to be in the photograph. The camera needs to be placed on a tripod or secure surface. Return to Quiz
