  2. Mission • To provide academic tools for success to students and educators in primary and secondary schools of education. • To increase academic success for low-income and first generation middle, secondary and postsecondary students.

  3. Vision • To increase the postsecondary graduation rates of low-income students by 100%, from 8.3% to 16.6%, which is equivalent to 100,000 new college graduates. • To increase student knowledge on how to navigate through high school and college to a successful career.

  4. Strategy • Utilize social media and mobile devices to educate students on college success. • Create video games and web applications that mirror real-life scenarios that aid students in academic decision-making. • Provide materials to educators to assist them in helping students navigate to academic success.

Skills and Specialties • Fenyang = Java, Matlab, Author, Music Producer, NSF PI • Tracy = Six-Sigma Black Belt +15 years experience • Ross = C++,C#, Java, music producer and storyteller • Tayo = FSU professor, creator of scientific assessments used to lower juvenile recidivism rates in Michigan. (NSF PI, various grants) *All are African-Americans from low-income communities with exceptional academic achievement, grit, and focus

School Is My Hustle: It’s not just an App, It’s a Movement • Geared to not only change the perceptions and actions of low-income students when it comes to going to and graduating from college. • Wired to create a movement of over 100,000 low-income students who are excited and informed about college and equipped for academic success, graduating en masse with degrees and jobs in their fields.

How We Will Do It • We will combine the power of Video Games and Hip-Hop Culture • Create a video game with career role-playing that prepares students to be college bound and informed • Has the best new original hip-hop songs and beats that speak on academic achievement as a backdrop • Create a new motto, “School Is My Hustle”, that will spread like wildfire, linking going to school with acquiring financial rewards (scholarships and jobs)

Think: Where in The World Is Carmen Sandiego, with a Hip-Hop Twist • Levels go from Novice to Expert • Role-Playing Game, choose your own adventure (major/career) and outfit. • Walks you through the college-bound process • Resumes, Recommendations, Essays, Salaries • Earn Badges as you complete real-world tasks • Data Linked to Shared Learning Collaborative • Log-in to play game via FacebookConnect

  10. Use Social Media and Connect App with Teachers in the Classroom • Target market: Florida School Districts • Provide School Is My Hustle: The Teacher’s Guide to Teachers prior to launch in school districts. • Provide the eBook, School Is My Hustle: Top Secrets for Academic Success to schools to distribute free to their students. • The Video game will be downloaded and played on computers in school as a part of a college preparatory curriculum, orientation, or class. • Create an assessment on use of the app and academic achievement outcomes, linked to SLC
