If the US attacked one, the others would come to their defense • The US won’t want to fight a 2-Ocean war
What does the US do? • Increase military spending (build a 2 Ocean Navy) • Selective Service and Training Act (ages 21-35) 1 year term
Britain out of money to keep fighting Germany • US comes up with Lend-Lease Plan
June 1941-Hitler breaks non-aggression pact with Russia and attacks them
We had banned the sell of weapons materials to Japan • We were interfering with their plans to take over Asia
19 ships damaged or destroyed • 2400 people killed • Planes destroyed on the ground
Dec. 8, 1941-US declares war on Japan • Dec. 11- Italy and Germany declare war on US
