  1. Some recent PS MD’s • LHC beam • TOF (see Gabriel Metral talk) • AD (see Roland Garoby talk) • Optics @ 26 GeV/c • PSB-PS matching • Profilometer tests • SPS-MD’s preparation R. Cappi PPC 15.10.99

LHC beam • Single batch (4 bunches): • preliminary studies of injection errors on various bunches / rings: • ax ~1.5mm => Dex ~0.16 mm => 8% of b.u. • ay ~ 3mm => Dey ~0.65 mm =>32% of b.u. • Double batch (4+4 bunches): • almost all HW modifications done • ready (?) to start measurements with beam R. Cappi PPC 15.10.99

  3. Optics @ 26 GeV/c • PS and TT2 • closed orbit minimisation => done • new matching for FTA(AD) line =>done • optic meas. With TT10 => analysis in progress R. Cappi PPC 15.10.99

  4. PSB-PS matching • New BTP transfer line optic: • Problems with: • Pow. Supplies controls • Instrumentation (WS) • coupling effects, etc. • “...the new optic is better than (or at least 'as good' as) the old for emittance preservations of small emittance beams…(A.Jansson dixit) • a suivre (tests on high intensity beam, LHC beam, etc.)... • Quadr. p.u. measurements: • in progress, (see next PPC) R.   5. New profilometer tests • Test with beams at various energies: • 1.4, 3.5, 26 GeV • other energies in preparation • incompatible with ion beams (stripping by vacuum bump) • tests will continue on last MD (before Xmas) R. Cappi PPC 15.10.99

  6. SPS-MD’s preparation • TSTLHC: “nominal” LHC beam • MDPRO:fast extr. @ 14GeV/c • MESPS:single bunch (long or short) @ 26GeV/c, various intensities • MDSPS: bunch train at 26GeV/c • etc. • in preparation: single bunch @ 20 GeV/c R. Cappi PPC 15.10.99
