  2. What is The Polar Ice Cap? • A high latitude region of a planet or moon that is covered in ice

  3. Where is it Located? • Must be centered in a polar region • Located around the North Pole, Greenland, and Antarctica • Covers 70% of the Arctic Ocean

  4. What is its Temperature? • The average monthly temperature is the coldest area in the world • -17ᵒ C (1.4ᵒ F) • For 6 months the sun never appears above the horizon and temperatures plummet to the coldest experienced ever

  5. What is the Snowfall/Rainfall? • Ice cap climate is described as a “polar desert” • Combined yearly 0.4 precipitation yearly • 0.03 combined precipitation monthly

  6. What is the Vegetation? • Only moss and lichen exist • Due to the harsh weather conditions, traditional plants cannot grow

  7. What Types of Animals? • Seals • Arctic Birds • Whales • Polar Bears

  8. What Makes it Unique? • There are ice caps on other planets like Mars • Coldest place in the world
