  5. What happens at the NYSE? • What happens here is very similar to what we did in class last Thursday (stock auction activity). • A bunch of buyers and sellers get together. If someone wants to buy or sell a stock, they offer a price and see if anyone accepts it.

  6. Buying and Selling at NYSE Buyers: If the price they offer is too low, they must raise their bid. Sellers: If the price they offer is too high, they must lower their bid. We saw last week that if enough people do this for a long enough period of time, a natural equilibrium price will eventually emerge.
