Virtual Training Suite RDN Discover the best of the Web for your subject • Learning Internet skills • Free self-help tutorials for students and staff who want to develop their Internet research skills • Over 60 tutorials –for most subjects taught in UK colleges and universities, each offering: • A tour of key Web sites for your subject • Tips on Internet searching • Guidance on Web site evaluation • Ideas for using the Internet for research • They take around an hour to complete, with interactive quizzes and exercises to lighten the learning experience. • Teaching Internet skills • Free resources for lecturers and librarians who want to teach their students Internet research skills • Case-studies and course materials to help with using this resource in: • Taught courses • Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) • Library and information skills training • Staff development • Free posters for each tutorial to download, plus guidelines on embedding them in your VLEs and course Web pages. Since June 2002 the site has been visited by tens of thousands of users. Feedback from lecturers and students has been very positive … "I did the tutorial through my Information Literacy module at University. I enjoyed working through it at my own pace. An excellent way to learn new skills." “These tutorials are beautifully put together. The Web interface is one of the best I’ve used. The quizzes were very helpful and the links basket is a great idea”.
