  23. Contents Some Ideas in Troubleshooting How to Troubleshoot in MA5300 Service Troubleshooting in MA5300 Security Level: Internal

  24. PPPoE Service Troubleshooting Common service problems in MA5300: • User cannot find the PPPoE server. • Username or password is incorrect. • Low speed. Security Level: Internal

  25. PPPoE Service Troubleshooting User cannot find the PPPoE server. Cause: The PPPoE client cannot find the PPPoE server. Locating problem:Physical layer, or data link layer. Solving problems: [User] • Check the PPPoE client was installed correctly; • Check the Physical connection between computer and modem, modem and the phone line; • Check modem was configured correctly; Security Level: Internal

  26. PPPoE Service Troubleshooting [DSLAM] • Check the EAD board state, and the ADSL line state; • Check the connection between DLSAM and BAS; • Check the vpi/vci of the ADSL port; • Check the VLAN configuration in DSLAM; ADSL port and uplink ethernet port. [BAS] • Check the PPPoE configuration in BAS. Virtual-template and whether the port is bound with VT. Security Level: Internal

  27. PPPoE Service Troubleshooting Username or password is incorrect. Cause: user cannot pass authentication. Locatingproblem: PPP link layer, network layer. Physical layer works. Physical layer is working normally. Solving problems: [User] • Confirm the user input correct username and password; [BAS] • Check the authentication configuration in BAS, whether the user uses local authentication or Radius authentication. Security Level: Internal

  28. PPPoE Service Troubleshooting • If the user uses local authentication, check whether this username and password was configured in the BAS correctly. • If the user uses Radius authentication, check the Radius configuration. [External equipment] • Check the Radius server is working normally, and is reachable. • Check the username and password was configured in the Radius correctly. Security Level: Internal

  29. PPPoE Service Troubleshooting Low speed. Solving problems: [User] • Check the user’s computer’s hardware configuration, and running performance. • Check the cable and line is fully connected. [DSLAM] • Check the quality of the ADSL line • Check the transmission rate configuration of the ADSL line profile. Security Level: Internal

  30. PPPoE Service Troubleshooting [BAS] • Check the CAR configuration of the user. • Ping destination IP address to see whether there is a traffic bottleneck to the destination in network. • If possible, connect a server directly with BAS, observe the traffic on the user’s computer. Security Level: Internal

  31. DHCP Service Troubleshooting User cannot obtain IP address. Locating problem:physical layer, data link layer, network layer. Solving problem: [User]: • Check the IP configuration of the computer. • Check the Physical connection between computer and modem, modem and the phone line; • Check modem was configured correctly; Security Level: Internal

  32. DHCP Service Troubleshooting [DSLAM] • Check the EAD board state, and the ADSL line state; • Check the connection between DLSAM and BAS; • Check the vpi/vci of the ADSL port; • Check the VLAN configuration in DSLAM; [BAS] • Check the service configuration. • If the external DHCP is used, check the DHCP server is working normally and reachable. Security Level: Internal

  33. DHCP Service Troubleshooting [External equipment] • Make sure the configuration in DHCP server is correct. Security Level: Internal

  34. DHCP Service Troubleshooting Low speed. • Same as PPPoE service. Security Level: Internal
