  2. Italian Renaissance • Beginning of the Renaissance • From about 1300 to 1600 • A rebirth of culture • Many changes and achievements

  3. Who was affected? • Concentrated in the elite • Every day life of most people did not change at all

  4. For whom did they work? • The artists, architects, writers, composers, etc. of the Italian Renaissance worked for wealthy “patrons” • The patrons paid them, but often chose what they were to create as well

  8. Subjects of Art • Because the Roman Catholic church was so wealthy, it was often a patron of artists, etc. • When the church sponsored a piece of art, it always had a religious theme
